“Such a privilege to support SAF Aerogroup’s humanitarian efforts in Africa.”
– says, Tomoo Nakayama, Chairman of ITC-AeroLeasing, Inc.
ITC-AeroLeasing, Inc. (“ITC”) has entered a new lease with SAF Helicopters SAS (“SAF”) for one (1) Eurocopter EC225LP, which will be deployed on transportation of relief items and food for the United Nations World Food Programme (“WFP”) in Africa.
SAF is a leading Europe-based helicopter operator and part of SAF Aerogroup, with the group including Starlite Aviation Group (“Starlite”)— SAF’s Africa-based sister company.
The EC225 (or H225) is one of the world’s largest and most technologically sophisticated helicopters. It has gained increased popularity for utility missions and humanitarian operations over the last decade. The EC225 will be used for food supply and peacekeeping operations as deployed by the United Nations. The aircraft will specifically provide humanitarian assistance, food and relief items, as well as emergency medical transportation to impoverished and civil conflict areas of Africa.
ITC, a Japan-based leasing and trading company, has always focused on socially responsible projects. However, this will be its first time supporting the United Nations’ humanitarian relief operations through aircraft financing.
ITC has been working with SAF since 2022. SAF has long been regarded as well-integrated in the French welfare/health system and has been one of the key players in the African market since it acquired Starlite. ITC is very excited to have now partnered with SAF and Starlite for such a rewarding and worthy project in Africa and looks forward to developing the relationship.
